Plagiarism Policy
Agriculture Reviews: An International Journal (ISSN: 3050-7863) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical publishing. Plagiarism in any form is considered a serious violation of research ethics and will not be tolerated by the journal.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of presenting another person’s work, ideas, or data as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Direct Plagiarism: Copying text, figures, tables, or data verbatim without citation.
- Mosaic Plagiarism: Adopting phrases, structures, or ideas from a source without proper acknowledgment.
- Self-Plagiarism: Republishing significant parts of one’s own previously published work without disclosure.
- Data/Results Plagiarism: Using another researcher’s data, images, or results without permission or proper citation.
- Improper Paraphrasing: Rewording material in a way that too closely resembles the original without proper referencing.
2. Plagiarism Detection
All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using advanced software tools (such as iThenticate, Turnitin, or equivalent). Similarity reports are reviewed carefully to distinguish acceptable overlaps (e.g., references, common terms, standard methodologies) from unethical copying.
3. Acceptable Similarity Index
The acceptable similarity percentage is 15–20%, excluding references, author details, and standard phrases.
Manuscripts exceeding this limit may be returned for revision or rejected, depending on severity.
4. Consequences of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage, strict action will be taken:
- Before Acceptance: Immediate rejection of the manuscript.
- After Acceptance but Before Publication: Withdrawal of the manuscript from review or production.
- After Publication: Retraction of the article, along with a formal retraction notice published online.
- Further actions may include:
- Blacklisting of the authors for future submissions.
- Notification to the authors’ affiliated institutions and/or funding agencies.
5. Author Responsibilities
Authors submitting to Agriculture Reviews must:
- Ensure all submitted work is original.
- Provide proper citations for all sources.
- Use quotation marks and references when reproducing another author’s words.
- Avoid duplicate or overlapping submissions.
- Disclose related or previously submitted manuscripts.
6. Editorial and Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers should report suspected plagiarism to the editorial office.
Editors will verify such reports and make impartial decisions, strictly following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
7. Self-Plagiarism Policy
Authors must not submit work that substantially overlaps with their prior publications.
Reuse of methods, background, or literature must be properly cited.
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time is strictly prohibited.
8. Appeals and Clarifications
Authors who wish to contest a plagiarism decision may submit a written appeal to the Editorial Office. The Editor-in-Chief and Ethics Committee will review the case, and their decision will be final.
