Editorial Process

Editorial and Peer Review Process

Initial Check

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial screening conducted by the Managing Editor to evaluate:

★ The relevance and suitability of the manuscript with respect to the scope of Discover Economics and Finance: An International Journal.
★ The formatting, structure, and completeness of the manuscript according to the journal’s submission guidelines.
★ The similarity index using plagiarism detection software (iThenticate) to ensure originality and research integrity.

Manuscripts that fail to meet these preliminary standards may be rejected at this stage or returned to authors for necessary modifications before further consideration.

Eligible manuscripts are then assigned to an Academic Editor, typically the Editor-in-Chief. In certain cases, the Editor-in-Chief may delegate this responsibility to another Editorial Board Member, Guest Editor, or a subject expert, following COPE guidelines to avoid conflicts of interest.

The Academic Editor evaluates the manuscript for novelty, scientific soundness, ethical compliance, and alignment with the journal’s objectives. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be declined without external review.

Peer Review

Discover Economics and Finance: An International Journal follows a single-blind peer review process. This means that reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities, but authors remain unaware of the reviewers’ identities.

Following the initial screening, qualified reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area are invited to assess the manuscript. Reviewer selection is based on academic credentials, research experience, and impartiality.

Each reviewer is requested to complete their evaluation within 14 days of accepting the review invitation. Reviewers assess manuscripts based on:

  • Scientific validity and analytical rigor
  • Originality and contribution to existing literature
  • Clarity of methodology and presentation
  • Relevance to economic or financial research themes

Reviewers submit a detailed review report containing constructive comments and a final recommendation:
“Acceptance,” “Minor Revision,” “Major Revision,” or “Rejection.”

A minimum of two independent review reports are required before an editorial decision is made. Reviewer guidelines are provided in the Peer Review Guidelines section.

Special issue manuscripts follow the same rigorous review standards as regular submissions. All content, except editorials, undergoes peer review. The Editor-in-Chief retains full responsibility for final content approval and supervision of Guest Editors. For further details, refer to the Guest Editor Guidelines.

Editor Decision

After review reports are received, the Academic Editor issues one of the following recommendations:

Acceptance: The manuscript proceeds to the production and publication process.
Revision: Authors are requested to revise their manuscript according to reviewer/editor feedback. Revised versions may be re-evaluated.
Rejection: The manuscript is declined due to insufficient quality or relevance.

If the Academic Editor is not the Editor-in-Chief, the final decision on acceptance or rejection is subject to the Editor-in-Chief’s approval.

Post-Acceptance

Once accepted, the manuscript enters the production phase, which includes language editing, copy editing, proofreading, and formatting to ensure consistency with the journal’s publishing standards prior to final online publication.
