Open Access Policy

Open Access Policy

World Education Policy: An International Journal is dedicated to advancing global knowledge in education by ensuring that all published content is freely accessible to readers everywhere. The journal supports openness, equity, and transparency in scholarly communication, enabling unrestricted access to research on education policy, teaching and learning innovations, curriculum reform, digital transformation, inclusive education, and related fields.

1. Open Access Model

The journal operates under the Gold Open Access publishing model:

  • All articles are freely accessible online immediately upon publication.
  • Readers may read, download, share, and distribute content without any restrictions.
  • Authors retain copyright and grant the journal permission to publish their work.

This model promotes the widest possible dissemination of education research.

2. Licensing Policy

All published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which permits:

Sharing: Free copying and redistribution in any medium or format.

Adaptation: Remixing, transforming, and building upon the work for any purpose, including commercial use.

Attribution: Appropriate credit must be given to the author(s) and the journal.

This license maximizes visibility, reuse, and impact of scholarly work in education.

3. Benefits of Open Access

Global Reach: Research is accessible to educators, policymakers, scholars, students, and institutions worldwide without paywalls.

Higher Visibility & Citations: Open access articles are more widely discovered, shared, and cited.

Faster Knowledge Exchange: Supports quicker adoption of educational innovations and policy reforms.

Equity & Inclusivity: Ensures that knowledge is available to all, including researchers in low-resource settings.

4. Article Processing Charges (APC)

To support open access publishing, the journal charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) upon acceptance.

No submission or evaluation fees are required.

APC covers peer review coordination, editorial processes, production, indexing, and online hosting.

Waivers or discounts may be granted to authors from low-income regions or early-career researchers.
(See the APC Policy Page for detailed information.)

5. Archiving and Digital Preservation

Each article receives a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for permanent citation and easy retrieval.

Content is preserved through reliable digital archiving systems to ensure long-term accessibility.

Articles remain available indefinitely, even if the journal’s operations change in the future.

6. Compliance with Funding Agency Requirements

The journal’s Open Access Policy is fully compliant with major international funding agencies, including:

  • UNESCO and related educational bodies
  • European Commission (Horizon Europe)
  • National Science Foundation (NSF)
  • World Bank and other global education funders

Authors can confidently publish with us knowing their institutional and funder mandates are met.
