The peer review process is essential to maintaining the academic quality, originality, and global impact of World Education Policy: An International Journal. We highly value the expertise and dedication of our reviewers, whose contributions ensure that only rigorous and meaningful educational research is published. These guidelines are designed to support reviewers in providing fair, constructive, and timely evaluations.

1. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, unbiased, and confidential assessments of submitted manuscripts.
  • Evaluate the originality, significance, methodology, and clarity of the research.
  • Offer constructive and actionable feedback to help authors improve their work.
  • Identify issues such as plagiarism, duplication, data inconsistencies, or ethical concerns.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest that may affect their impartiality.
  • Complete the review within the agreed deadline to support timely publication.

2. Evaluation Criteria

While reviewing a manuscript, please consider:

Originality & Novelty

Does the paper bring new insights into education systems, policies, curriculum design, pedagogy, governance, or learning outcomes?

Relevance

Is the research aligned with global or national education priorities such as:

  • Education reforms
  • Inclusive learning
  • Digital and technology-enabled education
  • Higher education
  • Teacher development
  • Policy implementation and evaluation
  • Curriculum and instructional design

Methodology

Are the research methods, data collection procedures, and analytical approaches sound and appropriate for the study?

Clarity & Structure

Is the manuscript logically organized, clearly written, and coherent?

References & Citations

Does the manuscript appropriately cite relevant literature and current research?

Figures, Tables & Evidence

Are graphical elements accurate, high-quality, and supportive of the study’s conclusions?

3. Review Process

Invitation

Reviewers will receive an invitation containing the manuscript’s title and abstract.

Acceptance or Decline

Please confirm your availability and expertise before accepting the review.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts must not be shared, discussed, or used for personal benefit.

Recommendations

Reviewers may recommend one of the following:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

Feedback Submission

Provide:

  • Comments for Authors – clear, polite, detailed, and constructive
  • Comments for Editors – confidential concerns or ethical issues, if any

4. Confidentiality & Ethics

All manuscripts are strictly confidential.

Reviewers must avoid any form of bias based on gender, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or institutional affiliation.

If unable to review objectively or within the timeline, reviewers should notify the editor immediately.
