The peer review process is a cornerstone of academic publishing, ensuring that only high-quality, original, and impactful research is published. At Xplore Environment: An International Journal, we deeply value the expertise and dedication of our reviewers. These guidelines are designed to assist reviewers in conducting fair, constructive, and timely evaluations.

1. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, unbiased, and confidential assessments of manuscripts.
  • Evaluate the originality, relevance, methodology, clarity, and overall contribution of the research.
  • Offer constructive feedback that helps authors improve their work.
  • Identify any signs of plagiarism, duplication, data manipulation, or ethical issues.
  • Declare conflicts of interest that may compromise the review process.
  • Complete reviews within the agreed timeline to maintain efficiency in publication.

2. Evaluation Criteria

When reviewing a manuscript, please consider the following:

  • Originality & Novelty: Does the study present new findings or perspectives?
  • Relevance: Is the work significant for the field of environmental science and sustainability?
  • Methodology: Are the research design, data collection, and analysis methods rigorous and appropriate?
  • Clarity & Structure: Is the manuscript well-written, logically organized, and free of ambiguity?
  • References & Citations: Are previous works properly acknowledged and cited?
  • Figures, Tables, and Data: Are they clear, accurate, and supportive of the research findings?

3. Review Process

Invitation: Reviewers will receive an invitation with the title and abstract of the manuscript.

Acceptance/Decline: Reviewers should confirm their availability and expertise before accepting.

Confidential Review: Manuscripts must not be shared or discussed with others without permission.

Recommendation: Reviewers may recommend:

  • Accept as is
  • Minor revision
  • Major revision
  • Reject

Feedback Submission: Comments should be submitted through the journal’s online system, addressed both to the authors (constructive, detailed) and the editor (confidential notes if necessary).

4. Confidentiality & Ethics

Manuscripts are confidential documents and should not be used for personal advantage.

Reviewers must avoid bias related to gender, race, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation.

If a reviewer feels unqualified or unable to review objectively, they should notify the editor immediately.
